    A peek into each week of the course

    Week 1: 

    Immersive mindfulness

    We start by fostering an environment of mutual understanding and shared expectations. Through interactive experiences you'll learn to engage all your senses in the present moment. Your journey towards a more mindful life begins here.

    Week 2: 

    Thinking about thoughts

    This week we will discuss our thoughts and how we can feel more peaceful amongst them. We'll use meditation and reflective exercises to help you see your thoughts from a calm perspective without trying to control them.

    Week 3:

    Feelings and emotion

    We'll learn to understand and manage our emotions better. Through engaging exercises, you'll learn to switch between emotional states, enhancing your emotional IQ and developing healthier responses to emotional triggers, making you feel happier and more balanced.

    Week 4:

    Use your ears wisely

    Hone your active listening skills to improve your relationships and better understand and relate to others. Through music, art therapy and guided meditation, you'll learn to listen with an open mind and heart, devoid of judgement and preconceptions.

    Week 5:

    Use your eyes wisely

    In our fifth week, we'll use fun activities to help you see the world from different viewpoints and gain a fresh perspective through mindful visualisation techniques. Through activities such as the 'Jigsaw perspective' you'll learn to be aware of things like judgement and labelling that can cloud our vision, and instead learn to see the world more openly.

    Week 6:  

    Reaching out

    We'll discover the calming power of touch and how it can bring us back to the present moment. You'll learn about body language and relaxation techniques to reconnect with yourself and others, bringing a sense of calm focus and stress relief.

    Throughout the course, we'll share reflective poems and set fun homework assignments to help you practise mindfulness even outside of our sessions. By the end of these 6 weeks, you'll feel more in tune with your senses, thoughts, emotions, and the world around you.

    Jo and Carys are local wellness experts with a passion for helping others. Find out more about them below:

      Jo Newlands

      After gaining a BA (Hons) Degree in Social Science (Psychology and Sociology) and working in Education, Jo had to direct her own recovery from being chronically ill with Periodic Paralysis and severe ME/CFS, which often left her paralysed and bed-bound, suffering with severe depression, anxiety and panic attacks, to now being happy, active, healthy and thriving.


      Jo went on to gain her Post Grad Degree in Education and She is now a deeply compassionate, highly trained Total Wellbeing Transformative Life Coach and Therapist, qualified in several psychotherapeutic and wellness disciplines, including Diet & Nutrition, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, NLP, The Emotional Freedom Technique and Addiction Therapy. 


      Jo is passionate about helping others before they trigger debilitating illnesses or just to start living their lives to their full potential and happiness right now. Her mission is to help as many people as possible overcome their anxiety and limiting beliefs, to find their core magic and start living their very best lives, equipping them to achieve freedom from anxiety, gain a powerful mindset and an empowered inner core.

      Carys Hughes

      Carys is the founder of Nature Connects Perthshire CIC and The Woodland Wellbeing and has a passion for all things Nature and Wellbeing.


      Carys strongly believes nature is a true healer and connecting with nature can improve your health and wellbeing.


      Carys has over a decade of experience working in the Health and Wellness industry and really enjoys spending time under the trees connecting with others and nature.
