Some of the techniques and therapies that I use

When we are working together I will use a combination of therapies and techniques best suited to your needs unless you specifically request to only work with one.

Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely used and scientifically recognised form of psychotherapy. It has been in use for decades. It is used to help correct unhelpful and sometimes damaging thought patterns and beliefs that can lead to continued distress and unhelpful behaviours and actions.

Often we are unaware of these unhelpful thought patterns and see them as perfectly reasonable. A CBT therapist can help you recognise and change these for more positive and helpful ones, leading to longterm improvements in mental health and wellbeing.

MBCT combines the effectiveness of mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy in one. Mindfulness promotes awareness of our present state, how we are feeling in the present moment. it can make us acutely aware of our thought processes, emotions, beliefs and actions which can make the strategies of CBT much more effective.

Mindfulness has the added benefit of calming the nervous system down and preventing overthinking and is particularly effective for overcoming anxiety, panic disorders and depression. It also acts as a very good buffer to the stresses and strains of modern life.

EFT uses the connection between the mind and body, through the nervous system and it's connection to neural pathways, through to gene expression (epigenetics). It involves using acupuncture points without the use of needles by just tapping on these points with your fingers, and is therefore painless and non-invasive. This can stimulate the nervous system and the brain to relax and become more receptive.

Combining this with a deeper understanding formed through the effective listening skills of counselling, the strategies of CBT in identifying areas of concern and the formulation of personalised NLP phrases to affect deep rooted change, the combination of physical stimulation and personalised thought provoking language can effectively change the way the brain stores deep rooted sensitised memories, pain activation points and subconscious beliefs and thought patterns.

It has been scientifically proven to be effective for many conditions including anxiety, depression, PTSD, Trauma, pain, inflammation, phobias, and many chronic health conditions.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Neuro (relating to the brain and how it functions) Linguistic (the use of language in our thinking, consciously and subconsciously) Programming (repeated behaviours to form automatic habits) describes how are beliefs and automatic thoughts and behaviours are produced through the network of synapses in the brain. Therapeutic NLP aims to reprogram these deep rooted automatic responses through repetitive words and actions. A thorough understanding of the individuals perspectives in life is needed to see what is proving to be unhelpful and causing issues. NLP can be used with an hypnotic state to effectively re-wire the brain.

Life coaching is about helping you to become the best version of yourself by breaking down the barriers that are holding you back.

As a life coach I help you identify your goals and map out a plan to reach them, whilst serving as your biggest cheerleader and accountability partner. Life coaching can be particularly effective in creating new pathways once therapy has taken place.
